Our Curriculum at St Wulstan's and St Edmund's Catholic Primary School & Nursery|
At St Wulstan's and St Edmund's Catholic Primary School we follow the curriulum written by Lancashire Counry Council to ensure that we cover all areas of the National Curriulum with rigor. This enables our pupils to learn all of the skills required to become learners for life.
We teach themes on a two year rolling cycle as we have a number of mixed age classes at our school. This is to ensure that the all children are taught the skills and knowledge of the National Curriculum.

At St Wulstan's and St Edmund's Catholic Primary School we follow the 'Letters and Sounds' scheme of work to teach Phonics in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.
Each class is taught at least a 20 minute Phonics sessions every day. This is supplimented with Phonics activities in English lessons and during independent learning during Continuous Provision.
Every pupil in the school, including Nursery children, read mainly from the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme which is supplimented by high quality books from other publishers such as Pearson Phonic Bug books.
Children are tracked on the Book Band levels to ensure that they are making good progress in Reading.
