Welcome to Year 2!
Miss Ormerod's Class
We are very lucky to be starting this year with a brand new classroom! The builders were very busy over the summer and have created an amazing learning space for us! We are currently in the process of developing part of it into a more independant learning area and I'm sure the children will tell you about all the changes we make over the next few weeks! Feel free to pop in for a look!
In addition to Miss Ormerod, Mrs Yau will be teaching on Tuesday afternoons and we are supported by our teaching assistants Mrs Bailey, Mrs Channing and Mrs Mercy.
Every Wednesday there will be an opportunity to pop into class for our open afternoon where you are encouraged to come to look at the children's work and talk about what they have been working on in class that week.
We also keep an open door policy and will be available to speak to most mornings and afterschool. If we are unable to meet with you during the morning or afternoon then please call the school office and we will try our best to arrange a meeting. Please keep in mind that I might not recognise you all straight away for the first week so please be patient at hometimes.
We are very busy in Year 2, learning lots of new concepts in Maths and learning to structure our sentences in exciting ways in English. We have many practical sessions during the week to help us become independent in our learning.
There are many websites we use in school that you can access here:
We ask that children access RM easimaths 3 times a week. It is proven to have impact on childrens' learning. If you are unable to log on, do come and ask and I can print out your child's details again.
This was taken during the last week of the summer holidays! There are going to be some exciting new areas for the children to make use of in supporting their learning and practising new skills! Watch this space!
Please find information regarding the SATs for KS1 that Year 2 take during the Summer Term (in May). There will be upcoming meetings regarding what to expect and how to support your children in their progress towards meeting the expected standards for Year 2.
