Tag Rugby

TAG RUGBY sessions for boys and girls in KS2 take place on Mondays from 3.30 - 4.30 in the Autumn and Spring terms.

A school team will be entering at least two local competitions this year.

Coach : Mr S Doherty (Fleetwood Rugby Club)

Rugby training also takes place at Fleetwood Rugby Club on Sunday mornings from 10.30 from all ages from Year 1.

When we got to Fleetwood Rugby Club we started with some training and then played our first game against Sacred Heart(B).
Captain Ben organised the team and told them to spread out and after they passed the ball we moved up in a line and started to take their tags. This led to our first try. We won 5-2.
Next game v Breck was another win 6-5. Game 3 was a draw 6-6 v Anchorsholme who were very good at defending. Game 4 was another win 6-5 v Fleetwood’s Charity.
We were group winners and then on to the Semi Final v Larkholme which we won 8-5.
We played Sacred Heart in the final and at first we were off to a great start and Sacred Heart(A) had some fast players but we were passing well and got more ground so we got a try after each try they scored. It was nerve racking at 7-7 with 2 minutes to go when one of their fast players ran through us to score the winning try.
Tries scored by Ryan, Luca, Jayden, Ben, Vinny, Mia and Oscar.
It was a great team effort by our team and Mr Doherty, our coach was very proud of us.
