St. Wulstan's & St. Edmund's Primary School and Nursery has received the coronavirus (COVID 19) catch-up premium grant in academic year 2020-21 to support children at our school.
In August 2020, the Government announced additional funding for schools to deliver catch-up funding following the COVID 19 lock-down measures. This amounts to £80 per pupil. The amount allocated to St. Wulstan's & St. Edmund's Primary School & Nursery is £20,000. Payments are made in 3 tranches, autumn, spring and summer and we have received our autumn allocation of £5,000.
The Education Endowment Fund (EEF) has provided early research evidence around projections for the impact of school closures during lock-down, predominantly on the impact for disadvantaged pupils. The school’s strategic response to devising and implementing the catch- up programme fully takes these findings into account. In summary, the EEF projections for the impact of widespread school closures identify;
• The disadvantaged attainment gap widens
• Assessment of lost learning is crucial
• Targeted support in addition to wider school initiatives are required
• Absence rates upon return are crucial
The funding provided has allowed us to employ a HLTA for four mornings a week in the Autumn Term to provide targeted support for children who are identified as needing additional support.
Additional catch-up time allocated in Spring 2 with a Level 3 Teaching Assistant leading interventions in Key Stage 1.
